And here is an update on my campaign to protect the many public voices that Tarvin appears to be silencing:
As some of you know, I have been investigating why many people lose their social media privileges simply for discussing an elected local official, Gina Clayton Tarvin.
For asking questions. For challenging. For criticizing.
DOZENS of accounts have been mysteriously shut down over this, and she has refused to answer any/all questions about her involvement in silencing public voices of opposition.
Well I am pleased to report, after working closely for weeks with Facebook, the problem seems to be over. The investigation continues as to how she may have gamed the report system, but Facebook understands all of the takedowns were in error and as of today, ALL accounts have been restored, as have ALL comments taken down originally after being reported. I walked them through every incident – every suspect – in painstaking detail – everything.
You may now write her name. You don’t have to be scared about typing her initials. I believe her power to silence public voices in this manner is now over (a full report is coming after I meet personally with Facebook reps later this month). That said – should ANYTHING happen as a result of discussing her, please let me know ASAP and I promise you it will be dealt with. I doubt she will give up.
Meantime, questions for her remain:
1. Did she orchestrate the takedown of voices by encouraging false, mass reporting?
2. Did she do this on work time? She is a government employee- we pay for her.
3. Were any taxpayer-funded devices (phones, computers) used for these actions?
She needs to answer. It is my hope that despite her ignoring this incredibly important issue, that one day soon she will be forced to answer – under oath.
